Is it time?

I've done this before. It's kind of like Brett Favre and his retirement saga. But I am seriously considering closing up shop here at the Daily Grind. Blogging without a pseudonym is dangerous these days. Administrators across the country are wary of their teachers sharing reality, observations, and opinions.
Certainly I am not as widely read as, say, Joanne Jacobs, but this blog is really more for me to generate thought on my part. The occassional commentor helps me to clarify or delve deeper. I guess we'll see where the weeks ahead take me.

  1. Having had similar thoughts on several occassions, I can understand why you might want to shut down shop... I hope you don't, but totally get it.

Don't let them get you down. You have a right to speak up and speak out. Just temper it with a modicum of self-preservation.

  3. I sympathize deeply. In fact, I haven't posted much on my blogs since I realized that some of my readers are local and don't share all my points of view. Call me paranoid, but I didn't care for them to have the advantage of knowing all my thoughts on matters.

Add to that demolishing an old high school that the city power structure wanted to take for free, and the introduction of standards-based grading into the secondary schools (already have it on the elementary level), and I decided to lie low for awhile and not give my Superintendent severe heartburn.

My second Board term (four years each) is up June 30, and my wife retires from the District the same day (I retired from the classroom in 2003, same district), so you can bet I'll feel less encumbered.

Hang in there. You're on the Science Goddesses blog roll!

  4. BTW, you can find me at www.repairman.wordpress.com, or www.hsdboardmember.wordpress.com. This Blogger profile doesn't link to my old Blogger blog, but the "web page" link does.

  5. I think this holds true for many in a professional positions that they can't 1) freely share their opinion and thoughts and 2) or their employer is scared of the spreading of information - can't stop that one. Hopefully you keep going even if the blog takes a different direction than originally intended.
