School Climate
I'm interrupting my profiles in greatness series to ask a question. What does your school or organization do to promote and maintain a healthy climate among the faculty/staff? Currently, we have three Staff vs. Senior events but we would like to add more opportunities for bringing our faculty together in small groups and large groups.

At my previous school, ASB graciously allowed teachers to participate in ANY event, not just "senior v. staff" events. We put together staff teams for the powder puff, dodge ball, basketball, etc tournaments as well as a teacher group for Air Jam (dance/lip synch). Teachers/staff also participated in the Prom Fashion Show and International Day. We had great fun practicing and playing together and it also showed the students we were interested/invested in them outside of the classroom.
Once a month we do a treat and recognize staff... no meeting but quick get together.
We have also gone bowling as a group before. This year I think we are going to a Twins baseball game.
Our administration is good about periodically grilling or making a meal for us to get everyone together without dealing with "shop talk".
We do have an end of the year bbq, but also a post-graduation get together, holiday party and the ever popular "staff hawaiian day" randomly selected by some staff member when the rain has gotten to be too much. Random donut day (admin delivers to each class) is also popular.
During assemblies, members of the staff/admin have been known to form an all male dance team and perform - quite humorous! and just before homecoming and prom, staff members are presented as "couples" in competition to win the king/queen. Last year I was princess leah and fought with my "date" Darth Vader using light sabers.
Staff members are heavily involved in "foodball" (the annual fundraiser) and have one devoted to their own fundraiser.
On a smaller scale, we do have our own book club and used to have a crochet club. We've also done bunko nights.
hi, i was read your blog description and i agree with it. teaching is great job but my most worst when i prepare exam paper every semester
I have read most of them and got a lot from them. To me, you are doing the great work. Carry on this. Work at home in the end, it also makes it almost impossible to manipulate a mosaic to a high position undeserved.
