Happy Day of Mourning

I woke up excited to give thanks for all of the many blessings in my life. I wanted to be thankful that I have a house to keep me warm, a wife to share my ups and downs with; I wanted to be thankful for my beautiful daughter who continues to grow and increase in knowledge. But instead, I woke up to a reminder that it is more important for me to feel shame.
So, Happy Day of Mourning from Seattle Public Schools.

Despite the "day of mourning" in Seattle, I hope yours was a day of rejoicing!

Hmm. You know, not to throw history out the door or anything, but regardless of what thanksgiving really truly "is", most of us get the day, if not a few days off to be with family and to do as you, be thankful for what and who we have in our lives. Dont we have enough hurt, and pain and distruction (ect.) going on in the world? Isn't it kind of nice to have a holiday to slow us down and be thankful? With no gift giving, or materialistic objects distracting families. Strictly about the company of the people (and food!!) you are with. Catching up on the lives of each other and sharing funny stories. I think its the best!!
